Courses & Teaching
My teaching interests are centred on economic theory, political economy, econometrics and the analytical foundations of market behaviour. The courses below cover both theoretical and applied approaches to economics.
Political Economy
An introduction to the interaction between economic structures, institutions, political decision-making and the distribution of resources and power within society.
Principles of Economics
An introduction to the fundamental concepts of economic theory, covering scarcity, opportunity cost, supply and demand, market equilibrium, elasticity, production, costs and the basic principles of microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis.
Microeconomics I
Foundations of microeconomic analysis, including consumer behaviour, preferences, utility, demand and the basic principles governing individual economic choice.
Microeconomics II
Intermediate microeconomic theory with emphasis on production, costs, firm behaviour, market equilibrium and the functioning of competitive and imperfectly competitive markets.
Microeconomics III
Advanced topics in microeconomic analysis, including strategic behaviour, uncertainty, information, externalities and selected applications of game theory.
Econometrics
Statistical and econometric methods for analysing economic data, with emphasis on regression analysis, estimation, hypothesis testing, model specification and empirical interpretation.
Industrial Organization
The study of firm behaviour and market structure, focusing on competition, monopoly, oligopoly, pricing strategies, barriers to entry and strategic interaction between firms.
Microfoundations in Macroeconomics
The microeconomic foundations of macroeconomic behaviour, linking household and firm optimisation to aggregate consumption, saving, investment, labour supply and macroeconomic equilibrium.
